Molecular hydrogen (H2) demonstrates selective antioxidant and anti-inflam-
matory properties with therapeutic potential across musculoskeletal conditions
including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, exercise-induced muscle damage,
chronic pain syndromes, tendinopathies, and muscle atrophy. This review
critically evaluates preclinical and clinical evidence for H2 therapy and identifies

Cisplatin (CIS)-induced peripheral neuropathy and associated comorbidities have a detrimental effect on the lives of cancer patients. Currently, there are no effective therapies to alleviate these symptoms. Duloxetine (DULO) is a recommended treatment, but it is linked with important side effects, thus making it essential to explore novel approaches. We examined the impact of a prophylactic treatm

Biodegradable magnesium (Mg) implant generally provides temporary fracture fixation and facilitates bone regeneration. However, the exact effects of generated Mg ions (Mg2+), hydrogen gas (H2), and hydroxide ions (OH-) by Mg degradation on enhancing fracture healing are not fully understood. Here we investigate the in vivo degradation of Mg intramedullary nail (Mg-IMN), revealing the generation of

Mitochondria originated from aerobic bacteria in endosymbiosis. Through this symbiosis, eukaryotes acquired an efficient energy-producing system, but at the cost of exposure to oxidative stress from reactive oxygen species (ROS). Molecular hydrogen (H2) was recently identified as an antioxidant that selectively reduces ROS, such as hydroxyl radicals and peroxynitrite, which are strong oxidants, and

Chemotherapy-provoked peripheral neuropathy and its associated affective disorders are important adverse effects in cancer patients, and its treatment is not completely resolved. A recent study reveals a positive interaction between molecular hydrogen (H2) and a heme oxygenase (HO-1) enzyme inducer, cobalt protoporphyrin IX (CoPP), in the inhibition of neuropathic pain provoked by nerve injury. Ne

Purpose of review: The current systematic review summarizes recent, basic clinical achievements regarding the neuroprotective effects of molecular hydrogen in distinct central nervous system conditions.
Recent findings: Perioperative neuroprotection remains a major topic of clinical anesthesia. Various gaseous molecules have previously been explored as a feasible therapeutic option in neurologica

Neuropathic pain remains intractable and the development of new therapeutic strategies are urgently required. Accumulating evidence indicates that overproduction of oxidative stress is a key event in the pathogenesis of neuropathic pain. However, repeated intra-peritoneal or intrathecal injections of antioxidants are unsuitable for continuous use in therapy. Here we show a novel therapeutic method
